On July 7, 2023, MCS Clay Studios will offer a new 6-week Sculpture/Hand Building Class led by Casper Clifford.
Cas joined us at MCS Clay Studios in June and their animal sculptures are incredible (see Instagram post)
Cas was born in Huntington, New York, and graduated high school with a focus on art in 2018. Cas started studing drawing and illustration at Montserrat College of Art then transferred to Salisbury University in 2019 switching majors to ceramics when they found that working in three dimensins better expressed their artistic vision. Cas found that their art takes on the form of installation based figurative sculpture with conceptual elements. Cas has gained experience in teaching while volunteering at the Salisbury Art Space in Salisbury, MD, and knowledge of studio practices and maintenance while working as a studio monitor at Salisbury University’s ceramic studio. Cas graduated in the spring of 2023 with a BFA in ceramics, and moved to Florida in June, where they began membership at MCS Clay Studios.
Members and visitors to MCS Clay Studios have been drawn to Cas’s studio to see the incrediblly lifelike animal sculptures, watching as they create the sculptures using various clay bodies and using underglaze decorations on their sculptures.
